Under the SEA

There was a point in my life when I wanted to be a fish.

What type of fish? No preference. I guess I just wanted to be able to live underwater. I remember looking at fish in children’s picture books and reading about their fictional lives in the sea.

Do I still want to be a fish? Not really– but perhaps metaphorically, I would, if the ocean represents an escape from human society. (Assuming there are no threats to my life in the ocean from predators and such).

Anyways, I visited the SEA Aquarium in Singapore and I became reminded of these childhood fantasies.

If you are fascinated by marine life, I’d say this aquarium in Singapore is worth a visit. However, I did not feel it was significantly better or different than the other aquariums I have been to.

Maybe as a child, I would have enjoyed it more.

After the aquarium, I explored a bit of Sentosa Island. I liked this candy shop called, ‘Candylicious’.

I think I really did feel like a child that day.

The Nostalgia!

Sometimes, I really miss being a child. I’m sure a lot of people do.

Ironic, since being an adult seemed so much more favorable when I wasn’t one yet.

“The past is beautiful because one never realizes an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don’t have complete emotions about the present, only the past”

– Virgina Woolf
